A Marriage of Mahogany and
Music
Its shape and its inglenook closely resemble those of the original
room lost in the 1970s, but the rest of the music room is thoroughly
modern. The vaulted ceiling is acoustically invisible, thanks
to a new plaster system that absorbs rather than reflects sound
waves. Low-voltage lighting subtly illuminates both the ceiling
and the rich oiled mahogany paneling. And beneath the rift-sawn
oak floating floor are the plastic tubes that warm the room,
like the rest of the first floor, with radiant heat. |
