Shop Smarter: Width

Wood flooring is sold in strips up to 3 inches wide and planks that are wider than 3 inches. Narrow boards are less expensive than wide ones and have a more traditional look. Rustic-feeling planks are more sensitive to swings in humidity, so there's a greater chance you'll see warping and gaps between boards. The wider the boards, the worse these problems will get.
