Transforming First House Into Home: After

Who: Alex G.
Where: Norfolk, VA

We gutted the original two-cabinet, one-drawer, 90-square-foot kitchen and took down 3 plaster walls with the original framing to combine the kitchen space with the former mudroom and a former single-car garage. We now have over 400 square feet that includes a fully functioning kitchen, a butler's pantry, a powder room, a pantry closet, and a utility and storage closet. We completed the renovation in under 9 weeks.

Who did the work: We did most of the work ourselves.
Cost: $10,000-$25,000
