Before this, I'd only grown a few ‘Knock Out' roses—never the 45 varieties of climbers, shrubs, and old garden roses that have transformed my 30-by-40-foot backyard into a private English cottage garden. I'm delighted by the wildlife that thrives in the habitat: several generations of squirrels, robins, and cardinals; numerous other birds; and rabbits (I feed them birdseed so they don't eat the roses).
