Gardening Around an Adobe: After

Who: Donmienne L.
Where: San Diego

Now we have curb appeal and drip irrigation and lovely plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies! We removed the 6-foot-tall privacy fence in the front yard and replaced it with a low stucco wall. We replaced a ceramic-tile entryway with durable saltillo-like concrete tiles, which work perfectly with our real adobe abode, and the front lawn got replaced with water-wise plants and fruit trees.

Who did the work: We did some of the work ourselves but a contractor did most of it.
Cost: $10,000-$25,000
