From Blah to Beautiful: After

Who: Dan H.
Where: Herriman, UT

We spent Memorial Day weekend hand mixing and pouring cement for the deck footings. Then we designed the trusses; raised the trusses into place, with the help of six neighbors; and installed the deck and railing. Using concrete found on the side of the road, we created the lower patio. We hauled small boulders from nearby fields to create planters and stairways, and then planted the landscape. Neighbors always say our yard looks like a park.

Who did the work: We did most of the work ourselves.
Cost: $10,000-$25,000
