"My mother and I once drove 12 miles to church one Christmas morning, forgetting that she'd put her bowl of pumpkin pie filling in the truck bed to keep cool. She had run out of room in the fridge and planned to bake the pie for dinner. The uncovered bowl never tipped during the whole ride! Later, when she went to bake the pies, she looked at it and thought it looked a little off but baked it anyway. I was the only one who knew about the 24-mile road trip the pie filling took. The holiday meal was wonderful as usual, but when it came to that pie, it was a little gritty. Everyone laughed when they heard the story and we promptly dumped that pie right in the trash!"
