"This scale model pumpkin statue was created over the course of about a week. I originally designed it on paper, creating early concept art in Inkscape and the GIMP. I then made a 3D rendering in Wings 3D, from which I began construction on the frame, which was then wrapped in chicken wire. 10 pumpkins were cleaned out and smashed to create the rocky exterior. These pieces were sewn onto the chicken wire using pliers, wooden skewers, and beading wire. A final pumpkin was carved to create the head. A pair of shorts was cut down the back and sewn around the legs of The Thing. The whole thing was lit using a single 55W 5500K 6200-lumen bulb."
