I believe we were true to the original craftsmen and brought back the beauty that was there in the beginning. Plus, the stairs no longer creak! Remaking the broken spindles and missing decorative pieces was the most difficult task. Since they were originally made by hand, special tools had to be fabricated to re-create some of the detail. This is just one of several projects that we have done to restore our 100-year-old farmhouse, but the stair project by far has been the most rewarding.
