Who: Tim and Vicki Peterson
Where: Pasadena, California
Then Tim made mini cardboard cutouts to scale of the major pieces—toilet, sink, tub, and my prized cabinet—to arrange them on the floor plan. But the trickiest part was figuring out the design for the hex floor tile. We settled on some sort of rug pattern, but there were endless possibilities. One morning I woke up to dozens of photos of various layouts; Tim had stayed up all night, cutting out paper hexes and arranging them. We picked a diamond design, and he set the tile hex by hex.
Shown: Tim tried dozens of different tile-rug patterns before they settled on this one.
