We like how we maintained the original character and brightness of the kitchen while creating more functional and usable space and a more open feel. The island, nook, and cabinet by our fridge with our washer and dryer—we love all these features, which made the same footprint feel larger. Communication among our neighbors, contractors, the subcontractors, cabinet-maker, and ourselves got us through the project. We had an idea of how we wanted things to turn out, and spent time upfront, and a little each day, communicating our expectations to translate the idea into a reality.
