I ripped out the carpet, color washed the ceiling, repainted the walls, and installed a wood floor. I designed the bookcases and built them myself. I wanted them to be somewhat symmetrical with the large window in the center, so I made two floor-to-ceiling towers on each side of the window and built a desk that utilizes the deep windowsill between them.
