We started a kitchen in our 1940 cottage that measured a whopping 7 by 11 feet. The original kitchen had been opened up to the dining room at some point but could only be entered through the laundry room—not exactly inviting for guests. By moving the stove to another space in what had been the dining room, we could open the kitchen directly to the sunroom and use it for the dining room, freeing up the old dining room to add space to the kitchen.
