The aesthetic of simple, clean lines and materials needed to complement, not clash with, the traditional feel of the rest of the house. The wall between the kitchen and dining room was opened with a leg of the cabinets creating a physical separation but maintaining the open feel. The windows were rearranged to maximize upper cabinets and natural light. The addition, windows, electrical, plumbing, and drywall were installed by a general contractor, but we built the painted cabinets and installed them as well as the Fireslate countertops, trim, and other finishes.
Who did the work: I did most of the work myself.
