You showed us your stunning kitchen transformations. Now see which ones were finalists in our Reader Remodel Contest, as picked by you and the editors of This Old House
I did all the design and drawings myself, sourced everything locally or online, and hired a contractor to do most of the work. So...the plan is done, everything is gutted and ready to go, and—my husband decides to have an opinion! He has fallen madly in love with a creampuff of a stove: French blue, European specs, custom hood...very sexy! Floor model pricing was impossible to pass up. He convinced me to change most of what had been designed so far to accommodate his "crush," and it became the star of the kitchen. We are thrilled with the new space! It's brought the family together, made everyone participate more in cooking, and it just feels good.
Who did the work: I did some of the work myself, but a contractor did most of it. Cost: $25,000 to $50,000
