Raising the Roof: After

Who: Peter H.
Where: Morrisville, Pa.

We had approx. 350 square feet of wasted knee-wall space, and going vertical from the original footprint gave us the extra room we so desperately needed. We worked out a new floor plan that gave us a larger master bedroom, a full 12-by-10-foot bath, and another bedroom in the back. New rooflines are in character with the Craftsman-style architecture, and a new front porch with stone columns frames it.

Who did the work: I did some of the work myself, but a contractor did most of it.
Cost: $50,000 to $100,000
