Hand-Done Look Adds Light to Loft: After

Who: Chet G.
Where: Grandville, Mich.

We determined that we could then convert the loft area from a potentially dangerous element for the kids to a special area specifically designed for them. I framed in a wall that would enclose bookshelves and an arched doorway, complete with a "tike-sized" staircase. That area was then dry-walled, painted, and carpeted.

Who did the work: I did all the work myself.
Cost: About $1,000 to $5,000
