When we decided to pursue our dream of renovating and living in a historic home, we purchased this Second Empire as a foreclosure. The original structure was constructed in 1880 for a ship's captain, and seven additions later, we had a new home. The property was listed as one of the most at-risk historic properties in Wickford, Rhode Island, in the North East Independent in 2008.
