We removed the asphalt siding to find the original wood clapboards in good condition. We removed them, added insulation and new sheathing, and then put the original clapboards back on. We recycled parts of the dismantled deck and used them for the interior window sills. We also installed all new windows but reused some of the old divided-light sashes as cabinet doors in our dining room.
Who did the work: I did all the work myself Cost: $50,000 to $100,000
