What Matters Most: Before

Who: Kris S.
Where: Framingham, MA

When we decided to remodel the kitchen in our 1950s New England Cape, our primary goal was to open up the space. What began as a narrow 8-by-16 foot corridor of a kitchen ended up a sun-drenched, L-shaped space that opens up to the front living room. We made a few compromises, such as shopping budget-friendly cabinet lines, reusing existing appliances, and working with a contractor who allowed us to do our own tiling, painting, and shopping for fixtures.
