Our goals for our Vermont Cape Cod kitchen remodel were to create functionality, conserve energy, and use green and local products when possible—thus the open shelving, LED and fluorescent lighting, EnergyStar appliances, and marmoleum countertops. Our cabinetmaker used local pine and cherry for the cabinets and the pantry. Even though the kitchen was gutted to the supports, we were able to keep the cost of the remodel under $20,000.
