You showed us your amazing kitchen transformations. Now see which ones were finalists in our Reader Remodel Contest, as picked by you and the editors of This Old House
Who: Lisa Rader and Jon Andrews Where: Brandon, VT
With the help from our family, some restraint, and a lot of salvaged material, we kept the cost for the whole project below $15,000—and that includes appliances! Our favorite features are sliding shelves in the cabinets, the roll-out pantry, and the bar top cut from a piece of local maple (all made by my husband). There's also an eat-in nook, a vaulted ceiling with exposed and repurposed beams, and a sunlit reading corner framed by repurposed glass doors.
Who did the work: I did all the work myself Cost: $14,920
