Create a diamond-patterned twig trellis for pea vines to scramble up. In front of a line of thick supporting sticks, sink thin shoots at about a 60-degree angle, a few inches apart and parallel to one another. Repeat at the same angle in the opposite direction so that shoots crisscross. Lash the shoots together with twine where they intersect.
