Makita BSS610

Highlight: The lightest saw tested.

Tester: Greg DiCarlo, Jacksonville, N.C.

Skill level: Pro ("I've been a contractor for 30 years.")

Used tool for: Ripping 1¼-inch cellular PVC and trimming aluminum storm door.

My two cents: "The thin-kerf blade did not wobble at all, even when I used it to cut down the storm door."

Tool stats: 7.1 pounds, 24-tooth blade with 50-degree bevel capacity and 2¼-inch maximum cutting depth, aluminum shoe and blade housing, 3,700 rpm.

Price: About $329 with two batteries (Makita)
