"After my nephew went to the zoo and saw a gorilla up close for the first time he became very good at doing an imitation of one of the great apes with the angry look and all. In honor of his imitation I chose to carve out a grumpy gorilla for Halloween. I used a X-Acto knife to cut the fine lines and a steak knife to cut deeper, larger chunks. I used a few tools from a pumpkin carving kit, but for smaller grooves and curves I used ribbon cutters. Regular old pumpkin scoopers worked for cleaning out the insides."
