How to do it: Put a trellis over an exterior window for clematis to climb on. Coat decorative wood brackets with primer, then paint and secure them to the studs on either side of the window with deck screws. For the top, rip a piece of 5/4x6 red cedar decking into three strips, space them evenly across the brackets, and secure with trim-head screws.
