What little plaster that remained on the ceiling was removed and the beams were sanded and sealed. We used 1x6 pine boards, whitewashed, as the ceiling above the beams. A corner of the room was bumped out to house a closet and hide the ductwork for the HVAC. We restored a simple 2-panel door and used it on the closet. The brick fireplace was repaired and a mantel found in the house added. Unfortunately, most of the heart pine floor was rotted so new pine flooring was added. The room is cozy yet functional. We love it!
