Colorful Spanish Style: Before

Who: Alden S
Where: Clearwater, Fl.

When we purchased our 1924 Spanish style home, we fell in love with its character and unique features. Unfortunately, this charm did not carry through to the guest bath. It was a cramped, awkward, and dreary space that seemed more like the setting of a certain Alfred Hitchcock movie scene than a guest bathroom. We set out to overhaul the bathroom as part of a larger house remodel that consumed most of 2008. We pored through magazines to find ideas that reflected the charm of the Spanish villa and a desire to include our personal stamp on the project. We discovered the American Clay product in TOH, mimicked the arches throughout the house in the shower and doors, and used various natural stones, such as onyx, travertine, slate, and handmade clay tiles for the shower.
