We refinished all the woodwork (all painted) to match the original woodwork in the house. We fixed the windows--replacing the broken panes with wavy glass and the old cotton sash cords with nylon. We replaced the laminate countertops with honed granite and added a backsplash of subway tile. We added a heater, potfiller, and a new range hood. A stainless steel farm sink, new appliances, satin nickel hardware, and nine schoolhouse light fixtures were the last touches to rejuvenate and revive the kitchen.
Who did the work: I did most of the work myself Cost: $10,000 to $25,000
