Good to the Core

As a substrate for veneered cabinets, medium-density fiberboard works great. MDF is smooth, strong, stable, and, on top of it all, formed from ground-up wood waste. The downside: The glue that holds it together contains formaldehyde. Crystal Cabinet Works offers cabinet boxes crafted from Green-Core MDF, made from 100 percent recycled wood pulp without added urea formaldehyde. This oak-veneered example is from the Quest line.
