Stick to lines

You may long for a color scheme that highlights every architectural detail, but detailing paint this way is costly because all of the details need to be brushed on by hand. It's cheaper to have the paint sprayed on, but then large expanses need to be all one color. One good compromise: Use a single color for walls and anything embedded in them, such as vents. Then indulge in detailed colors on the ends of the eves.
