1950's style bathroom before remodel « »

Out of the Pink: Before

My father taught me how to use tools and we loved watching home repair shows like This Old House. This 48-year-old bathroom was of a typical 1950s style: pink tile with black trim on the walls, slate blue and pink tile on the floor. It was time for a change, and I wanted the room to be something I could be really proud of. So I took it upon myself to get the job done. The funnest part of the renovation was the demolition—with the exception of removing the cast-iron tub. I broke it into small pieces with a sledgehammer. —Jo from Flushing, NY
