Q&A

Q: The floor in our utility porch was recently ruined because the washing machine overflowed. We then moved the washer to the other side of the porch to allow better access to a utility sink, but its drain still overflows. We don't have this problem anywhere else in the house, which was built around 1924. Any hints on what to do?

Tips

"Select your washer and dryer before designing your laundry room cabinetry. Most front-loaders are 39 inches high, so the countertop needs to be installed a bit higher than normal."
