Assemble the rack to build a standing coatrack

Clamp the post with its base overhanging a workbench. Dry-fit the upper foot and mark the center axis. Using a drill/driver with a -inch combination countersink bit, drill through the upper foot and into the end of the post. Pop the foot off, apply wood glue to the faces of the notch, and fasten the foot to the post with a 3-inch wood screw. Apply wood glue to the notch on the lower foot and clamp it in place, crossed with the upper foot, to form the stand.
