Step 3: Gather Four Paint Colors

Assemble the paint and the brushes. Choose four colors that share the same value, such as the blue, green, yellow, and brown used in this project. Pour equal amounts into small lidded jars. Mix white into one of the colors to create a fifth shade, such as a pale blue; keep track of the proportions in case you need to mix more. Gather brushes in three or more sizes.
