Step 8: Install the Knobs

Mark the knob positions on the inner stiles of the doors. Drill holes and secure the knobs with the included screws. Put in the shelves. Rough up the piece with sandpaper, then coat it with a primer-sealer, such as Kilz, followed by satin or semigloss paint.

    1. 1¼-inch brad nails to secure the top and bottom to the bookcase, and to trim the cabinet. If necessary, they will also be used to attach the header.

    2. Corner foot plates. Get four.

    3. Furniture feet. Get four.4. Magnetic door catch. Get two.

    5. H-hinges. Get four.

    6. Knobs. Get two.

    7. Primer-sealer. Get one quart.

    8. Paint. Get one quart in a satin or semigloss finish.
