Step 3: Add the Header

Cut a length of 13 to the width of the cabinet. Lay it on the face of the cabinet and butt it against the top. Nail through the header and into the sides of the cabinet.

    1. 1¼-inch brad nails to secure the top and bottom to the bookcase, and to trim the cabinet. If necessary, they will also be used to attach the header.

    2. Corner foot plates. Get four.

    3. Furniture feet. Get four.4. Magnetic door catch. Get two.

    5. H-hinges. Get four.

    6. Knobs. Get two.

    7. Primer-sealer. Get one quart.

    8. Paint. Get one quart in a satin or semigloss finish.
