Supplies You Will Need

½-inch birch-veneer plywood

  2x4s Get four 8-foot boards

⅜-by-3½-inch carriage bolts, washers, and nuts to attach the legs

 1-inch trim-head screws to attach the top

  3-inch deck screws to assemble the frame

  Wood glue

  6½-inch utility pulls Get two

Wood filler

Stain-blocking white primer

 Spray paint

  Painter's tape

  Spray polyacrylic

220-grit sandpaper

6-by-6-inch 16-ounce beanbags Get eight

- Jigsaw fitted with scroll blade (for plywood) and aggressive blade (for lumber)
- Drill driver fitted with ¼-inch and ⅜-inch drill bits
- Compass
- Utility knife
- Plastic putty knife to seal the painter's tape

9. Bolt the legs to the frames

Lay each assembly deck-side down. At the beanbag end of the board, drill a ⅜-inch hole through the center of each side piece 3½ inches down from the outside corner. Push a bolt through each hole and fit a leg onto the bolt inside the frame. Secure the bolt with a washer and nut. Tighten the nut until it's snug but not so snug that you can't fold it flat for storage.
