Q: My husband and I recently purchased an old Victorian farmhouse whose
windows desperately need to be redone. We have been told that the
original old, wavy, blown glass should be salvaged because it's
valuable. Is there any truth to this? Is it possible to find somebody to
replace just the window frames so that we can keep the glass?
— Leslie, Metamora, MI
A: Tom Silva replies: Your glass is indeed valuable. To go out and buy it is expensive, but to try to sell it would be difficult. Look in your local yellow pages for a custom window company that can manufacture sashes to fit the glass.
