Q: I want to refinish an old claw foot bathtub that's been painted several times and has water stains. Is this something I can do myself or do I call an expert?

— Doris, Lithonia, Georgia

A: Steve says : It's not something I'd take on myself. There are companies who will sand blast and refinish old cast iron tubs, either in place or off site, with good results, as we found out on the Salem House project.
